Interface: TextSimpleField

A field spelled as one self-contained element: a:fld in DrawingML, w:pgNum and the date six in wordprocessing.

It is an atom — one unit of its paragraph's offset space, like an inline drawing. A caret rests before it or after it and never inside; a click picks it whole. That is not a simplification of the file but a reading of it: there is no instruction to parse, no result region to bracket, and nothing between two marks to own.

The other field system is the instruction one (TextComplexField), and the two share no type — not a definition, not a kind. See Text Fields.

a:rPr, or the enclosing w:r's. One home, where the complex system has two: with no result spans there is nothing for a second to disagree with, so this is both what the element declares and what the evaluated value paints with.
result?
string
a:t, verbatim — empty for the shortcut elements, which store nothing. A String and never spans, because that is what the file holds: a:t is bare text under one a:rPr. It contributes nothing to the offset space — it is a stored value, not content. Two jobs, both passive. It is what a reader that does not recalculate sees, so export writes it; and it is what composition paints where the field cannot evaluate. A Page evaluates wherever its number is known — its stored value is right for at most one page — and a date wherever its language has a table, PowerPoint painting the moment it renders rather than the one the file was saved at.
