API reference / Common / Engine types / TableCellMargins
Interface: TableCellMargins
The padding between a cell's edges and its content, in points.
a:tcPr spells these as EMU attributes (@marL …) and w:tcMar as CT_TblWidth children, of which only dxa and nil are meaningful for a margin — so both resolve to points at import and the distinction does not reach the model.
Both dialects pad by default, and neither states the padding in the file. pptx puts it in the schema: @marL / @marR default to 91440 EMU (7.2pt) and @marT / @marB to 45720 (3.6pt), so the importer supplies them and every pptx cell arrives with margins set. docx puts it in the style pool instead — w:tblCellMar on TableNormal, present in every Word document — so a docx cell arrives sparse and inherits through the cascade.
Each side is its own Option, because Word inherits them one by one: a w:tcMar stating a bottom alone keeps the top its table states, and a w:tblCellMar or w:tblPrEx stating a top alone keeps the sides beneath it. A side stated nowhere is no padding.
