API reference / Common / Engine types / NonstrokingStyle

Interface: NonstrokingStyle

Non-stroking paint state — the brush that colors a fillable region (path interior, image stencil, shading region) plus the per-fill compositing knobs that vary between the stroke and non-stroke side of a paint op (PDF ca and op).

Universal across paint operations that have a "non-stroke" side: path fills (when the path's fill flag is set), image painting (where the brush supplies the stencil color for image masks), and shading paints (where the brush is unused — the gradient supplies its own color). Path-fill winding-rule selection is not part of this struct — it's a property of the path-fill operator (f vs f*), so it lives on the PathObject.

Call-uniform compositing (blend mode, AIS, OPM, RI) lives in RenderStyle passed alongside this on the paint call; the soft mask is its own field on each variant.

[Default] returns PDF's initial gs nonstroking state: solid black in DeviceGray, alpha = 1.0, overprint = false (spec 8.4.3.1). Use it for paint ops where the brush is unused (image painting, shading) or before any color operator has been issued.
